Diana Haskell

“One of my earliest memories is walking a dog on the beach. I remember feeling the energy running up and down the leash in a circle. I did not know where the animal ended, and I began … and so it went: mushing with sled dogs, touching foreheads with an elephant, sharing grapes with an orangutan, sitting with a family of lemurs, walking in the forest with horses, and deepening my love for the dogs who graced my life. My world was filled with awe and wonder with each animal I encountered. Although I didn’t have the words at the time, what continued to draw me towards  the animals was the great peace I felt while in connection.

Unknowingly, I went on a long detour of earning two master's degrees and climbing the corporate ladder, followed by many years fighting through debilitating neurological Lyme Disease. I lay in bed for months at a time, my world upside down, realizing that my life looked nothing like what I imagined as a young girl who had dreamed of working alongside the animals. Forced into a deep and prolonged stillness, I took the smallest steps towards what fueled me, towards  joy and what really mattered. I began carrying my camera everywhere as I always had, and dove into making art. Through my lens I uncovered my “why” - helping others to feel seen and heard through their connection to their animals.  My path is more than an artistic career born out of a lifelong love of nature, animals and people.  It is a deeply personal path to health, whole-hearted living, and service to others.” Diana H.

Her journey with photography began at a young age, when, reserved and introverted, she discovered a sense of voice and agency behind the lens.  That early connection to observation still shapes her work today: gentle, honest, and grounded in emotion.

For over a decade, Kristen photographed weddings throughout New England and helped build one of Boston’s top newborn and family photography studios, all while honing her skills to become a master retoucher.

Kristen now lives in Killingworth with her loving husband, and two tiny snack-demanding, sleep-refusing, yet equally loving clones of herself.

“May the art we create together perfectly reflect the love that fills your life. May our time together strengthen your bonds with your loved ones and animal companions and deepen reverence and gratitude for them. May this art remind you for years to come that you love and are loved. We are never alone.” -Diana
